The wait for the second season of Robert Kirkman’s excellent animated adaption of his equally excellent comic book is almost over. However, even when it does premiere, Amazon is planning to drag it out as long as possible. Season 2 of Invincible is eight episodes long, but Amazon is only giving us four this November, and holding the other four until an unspecified time in early 2024. Come on, Bezos, have a heart for once. Speaking of sinister people, this trailer suggests in the wake of his father’s path of destruction, Mark’s greatest fear is that he’ll become the next Omni-Man without even realizing it. The Walking Dead brand is pretty much known for its out-of-nowhere surprise deaths. No one is ever truly safe, at least in the comic where Hollywood contracts don’t guarantee survival for another season. Tomorrow Robert Kirkman’s apocalyptic tale will deliver the most surprising exit in the series’ history….its own. Issue #193, on sale July 3, is the final issue. Surprise! No one knew this until The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this afternoon. Kirkman pulled off the abrupt ending by soliciting fake covers for future issues that wouldn’t actually exist. The move comes just after the shocking events of Issue #192, in which central character Rick Grimes was shot to death, greeting son Carl the next day in zombified form. In fact, you could say that the modern zombie craze is inspired one way or the other by Walking Dead. This past Sunday saw the return of The Walking Dead on AMC, but it wasn’t met with a warm welcome back by fans and critics. The Season 7 premiere drew the ire of fans and critics alike in many ways. The Walking Dead has never been more popular. The TV show is heading into its highly anticipated sixth season, it’s gotten a spinoff show via Fear The Walking Dead, and all that attention has brought new attention to the ongoing comic still written by Robert Kirkman.
