Streets Of Rage 4 Available Now

A classic from the roaring age of fighting games has returned. After an absence of over 25 years, Streets Of Rage has returned with the fourth installment in a series with origins on the Genesis. Now it comes to Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, XBox One and PC. Axel, Blaze and Adam are back in Streets of Rage 4, along with newcomers Cherry and Floyd. Series composers Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima have once again provided the soundtrack (and you can also listen to their original tunes in the game). Critics have eaten Streets of Rage 4 up, with no one marking the game below a 7 and very few going below an 8. Streets Of Rage 4 Reveals Retro Throwbacks

It’s been ages since the classic 16-bit beat-em-up series Streets of Rage got any love. But all that’s about to change as Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games release Streets of Rage 4. And we learned today that the new installment will pay tribute to its origin era in a big way. The game will include twelve unlockable character sprites from the first three Streets of Rage titles in all their pixelated glory. The game itself does not have a pixel mode, so they look a bit out of place on the HD streets, but still cool. We’re also getting the original soundtracks for Streets of Rage 1 and 2, composed by Yuzo Koshiro, thrown in as an option. This stuff is all well and good, but what people really want to know about Streets Of Rage 4 is when the thing is coming out. Streets Of Rage Is Coming Back — First Trailer

Sega has many neglected series from its past….some of its most painfully ignored today are some of its earliest. That’s why developer Lizardcube is doing the Lord’s work — picking up some of Sega’s more obscure licenses and making new games out of them. They were the ones who created Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap in 2017, and now they’ve turned their attention to Streets of Rage. Streets of Rage is what the title suggests: a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up in the vein of Double Dragon or River City Ransom. There were three Streets of Rage games released on the Genesis throughout the early 90s, but the series never escaped that console until now. 2D brawlers fell out of fashion during the time of the Saturn and never came back during the Dreamcast’s brief life. But at last, the streets will burn with rage once more! Lizardcube is calling on the aid of Guard Crush Games, who once programmed a similar brawler called Streets of Fury, to give Streets of Rage
