New Line Cinema, the studio behind one of modern horror’s biggest success stories (The Conjuring and its sequel), has begun production on a third film in the series, they announced today. David Leslie Johnson, who wrote The Conjuring 2, will return to write the third movie….but what of the most important ingredient, the scary movie knowhow of director James Wan? Without Wan you’d have….well, Annabelle. The good news is that Wan will be involved in the production of Conjuring 3 in some capacity, but the bad news is he won’t be as involved as he once was. His directorial duties are currently tied up in an Aquaman movie for Warner Bros, due out in late 2018. Wan is serving as producer on Conjuring 3, not director.
