There’s been a lot of controversy about what Star Wars The Last Jedi did and did not do. One thing that most agree though is that the “ending” scene featuring Luke Skywalker coming to his sister Leia’s aid and distracting Kylo Ren enough for them to escape was very powerful. Especially when Luke got to meet with his sister for the first time in the new trilogy, because the actress playing her, Carrie Fisher, died after the film was finished. The scene was always meant to be there, but him kissing her on the forehead was all Mark Hamill’s idea. He told Entertainment Tonight: “I didn’t decide it and say, ‘Can I do this?’ I mean, in the take — I don’t know if we rehearsed it or not, but it just happened,” Hamill shared. “I was standing up and they weren’t ready for it. They said, ‘No, do that again.’ And we did it for a second take, and like I said, it was just spontaneous.” Another part he

Star Wars The Last Jedi was controversial for many people. Though it was praised for certain story beats, certain characters, certain twists, etc., not everything came off well. One of the things many agree they did wrong was killing off Captain Phasma. Phasma was heavily promoted in The Force Awakens, yet had only 5 minutes on screen. When she was teased for The Last Jedi, it seemed like she’d have more of a role. Turns out, she didn’t, at all. Instead, she was relegated to one scene, had a quick fight with Finn, and then died after falling into a crevice in falling apart Star Destroyer. However, that wasn’t how it was going to go originally. On The Star Wars Show, the team got a hold of a deleted scene that showed a very different take on the Finn/Phasma battle. Whether you liked Star Wars The Last Jedi or not, you have to admit it had many scenes which were awe-inspiring and paradigm breaking. However, it also had some scenes that felt cut off, and fans were quick to notice. One of them being that Luke Skywalker asked about where Han Solo was, only for the scene to cut away and not show him grieving, or anyone grieving in that matter. However, this won’t be the case in the home release of the film. For director Rian Johnson has told Entertainment Weekly that a deleted scene featuring Luke and Leia mourning Han Solo’s death will be in The Last Jedi. “It’s both of them having the connection, and that also then led you to think that Leia was thinking about Han’s death,” Johnson explained. “It was a really lovely moment. We realized just for pacing in that section we had to stick with Rey and Luke, and we wanted just to go straight from him slamming the door of the hut

There’s an old saying (and an old song) that goes “you can’t please everyone, so you, got to please yourself.” This phrase carries a lot of weight, especially in this world we live in right now. How far? Well, they decided the only way to “fix the script” was to…and I kid you not…cut out all the major women roles in The Last Jedi. Think about that for a second. Whether you liked or hated Star Wars The Last Jedi, you can’t deny that there were some very interesting moments and scenes. One of them concerned Rey’s “training” at the hands of Luke Skywalker. Early on, she sensed a place of great darkness on the island of Ach-To. This “black cave” was later visited by Rey later on as she tried to search for an answer to who she was. Since there was a bit of confusion as to what the purpose of the cave was outside of the obvious, Director Rian Johnson took time to explain it all: “Well, the idea that this natural place reflected […] The idea that if there’s a Jedi Temple up top, the light, it has to be balanced by a place of great darkness.
