First Casting News From The Librarians: The Next Chapter

Ever since the new owners took over, The CW has mostly ceased to be relevant to the average Popgeeks reader, focusing on Canadian imports and golf instead of the weird fantastical programs we used to get. However, they’re not ENTIRELY done with weird. There was a surprise order last year of a new series in Dean Devlin’s long-running Librarians thingamajig. The Librarians (originally The Librarian, singular) started as a series of TV movies on TNT starring Noah Wyle as an initially reluctant caretaker of the Library, the secret place where all the magical artifacts of the world are stored. Three movies were produced in the 2000s, followed up by The Librarians series in the 2010s. While Wyle’s character still served as the Librarian, you didn’t see quite as much of him; instead the focus went toward his new staff of semi-Librarians led by federal agent Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn). The Librarians To Be Resurrected At CW — But Without The Librarians

You’ve got to hand it to Dean Devlin, the creator of The Librarians — he knows how to stay employed. After producing the first Librarian movie for TNT in 2004, his production company Lightning Entertainment has remained busy for almost twenty years, first through sequels to The Librarian, then with their biggest hit Leverage, then with a “Librarians” series, then with the return of Leverage on Freevee, and now…more Librarians. Except this time, things could be a bit different. The show will be called The Librarians: The Next Chapter and serve as more of a reboot, instead of a continuation of the previous Librarians series (which wasn’t that long ago). Most of the characters will be new, including the protagonist, “a Librarian from the past who time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here.” He’s distraught that the castle he once called home has been turned into a museum, and in his dismay accidentally releases a wave of magic across the globe, forcing him to recruit a

The Librarians Liquidation Sale: All Enchanted Objects Must Go!

If anything hammers home the fact that TNT’s The Librarians isn’t getting a fifth season, it’s this: the show’s entire collection of props and costumes is being offered in a massive liquidation sale. Location: somewhere remote and industrial in Clackamas, OR. Yes, the Library is literally up for sale. And this isn’t an auction, this is first-come first-grab for those in the surrounding Portland area. The list of items from this fantasy series, which you can walk in and casually buy, is INSANE, including “assorted weapons (spears, knives, axes, swords, shields, guns), books, paper/documents, goggles, gadgets, breakaway glass, dummy crowbars/bolt cutters, dynamite, bombs, DOSA gadgets, etc.” There are also items that go far back enough to have been used in TNT’s “Leverage,” by the same creative team. NYCC 2017: Surprise Season 4 Trailer For TNT’s The Librarians

The first two seasons of The Librarians, that wacky loveable TNT fantasy, both ended with a promise from the network that the show was renewed for another season. There was no such promise at any point during Season 3, the actors and producers remained silent, and there was even a “Save the Librarians” social media campaign that appeared to fall on deaf ears. TNT has given no indication since then that this show was anything but cancelled, and since they actually film it in the city I live in, you’d think I would have heard something were it still in production.
