The cult indie adventure puzzle game The Sexy Brutale is coming to Nintendo Switch. At least, the game has been confirmed for a release date in Japan, however, it is likely that a port will also see a Western launch if recent PEGI ratings are anything to go by. The game originally released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in April of 2017 and garnered a positive critical reception for its unique gameplay mechanics and distinctive art style. In our review of the game for Xbox One, we noted how it was a standout indie game that had implemented a time-travel mechanic into a game in a new and interesting way.

The premise of The Sexy Brutale isn’t exactly clear from the name. It even takes a little bit of time for the game to explain exactly what it going on and what you will be doing. It turns out that the host of a mansion masquerade ball is missing and the staff are brutally murdering the guests in a collection of extravagant ways. Your job is to journey around the building, stopping the party from becoming murderous by preventing the various killings. In practice, this makes for a completely unique game that is unlike anything else I’ve ever played before. The Sexy Brutale introduces a number of innovative ideas almost immediately. This includes giving your character both a mask that turns them invisible to everyone else and a time traveling watch that allows you to reset the day. BadLand Games has signed a deal with Spanish developer Tequila Works to publish adventure game The Sexy Brutale as a PS4 physical release on April 11. Fans who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive six-page comic book penned by renowned comic artist Enrique Fernandez or an exclusive artbook featuring unseen images and concepts from the game’s development.
