Tales Of The Neon Sea Has Almost Met Its Goal
Zodiac Interactive, a team of indie developers from New Zealand, is hard at work on a detective sidescroller rendered in pixel art and dubbed Tales of the Neon Sea. They’re now looking for funding through Kickstarter., and they’ve almost met their goal.
In the near future, humans and sentient AI robots rely on each other for survival despite growing tensions and unease. Our protagonist, formerly a veteran police detective but now retired following years of frustration and disillusionment, spends his days intoxicated while accepting random jobs as a private investigator to make ends meet. He exists within the neon sea of an immense city, its blinding artificial lights unable to hide the shadow of greed and lust that threatens to engulf it at any moment.
This drunken cycle is broken when our hero becomes entangled in a missing person’s case, one which holds the key to tracking down a monstrous killer who long ago escaped justice. Unlock your memories, decode the truth, and resist drowning in the wave of conspiracy that grips the city!
You may be a sterotypical film noir detective in a trenchcoat, but you won’t be walking the rain-slicked streets alone…..you have a cat. In fact, you can play AS the cat at certain points, when the detective runs into areas he can’t explore on his own. Gathering clues and solving puzzles is key to exploring each area thoroughly.
Tales of the Neon Sea can be yours for as little as a $12 pledge ($18 in New Zealand money). A little more ($16) gets you a set of wallpapers on top of the game. And if they meet their DLC stretch goal, increasing your donation to $29 gets you both bonus chapters.
As of this post, the Tales of the Neon Sea Kickstarter has raised $8.579 of a $9,816 goal. With eleven days left, the finish line is in sight. Support them today! The game is currently forecasted for release this October.
