Tekken 7 Announced for PlayStation 4 at Paris Games Week 2015
It’s official. Tekken 7 is coming to the PlayStation 4. Bandai Namco Games officially announced the next installment of the hit fighting game franchise earlier today (Oct. 27) will be coming to the PlayStation 4 at the Sony PlayStation media briefing during Paris Games Week 2015. The first announcement trailer for the game was also revealed, which you can check out below. Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Tekken Team and producer Katsuhiro Harada are leading up the development of the game.
In addition, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President and CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that the game would have VR functionality for the PlayStation 4. No details were revealed how the game will work on PlayStation VR, so it will be interesting to see how that will come together. Producer Katsuhiro Harada also said that the PS4 version will be the most complete and enhanced version of Tekken 7.
The game will run on the Unreal Engine 4 and will feature an “intensive canon storyline” (via PlayStation Blog). Tekken 7 is also just in time for the franchise to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The story will feature the continuing fight in the Mishima clan and it’s newest member, Kazumi Mishima. Tekken 7 will feature the epic conclusion of the fight.
More special features and new gameplay mechanics are set to be announced for the game in the coming months. No release information has been revealed as of yet, or if other console versions are planned.
