Telltale’s Guardians of The Galaxy Not an Origin Story
Telltale Games are known for their episodic adventures, and their next one is based on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series. With one hit movie in the bag, and another seemingly on the way, it’s safe to say that the team of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot is very popular, making you wonder how Telltale is going to handle the group’s game adventure. Well, it appears that most importantly for them, they don’t have to do an origin story because the movie already did that.
“One of the cool things is we don’t want to tell an origin story again, try to retell what the [2014 Guardians] movie did,” Telltale Executive Producer Justin Lambros said to IGN. However, they did want to make sure they delved into the history of the characters, and deliver some potentially surprising moments.” Lambros added, “But we did want to tell the history of these characters…we found some really interesting things the more we played and looked at their history,”
According to Marvel Games Executive Creative Director Bill Rosemann: “…A good Guardians story is about them as a family and showing how they’re all misfits, they’re all underdogs, they all feel like they don’t have a family anymore. But they look at each other and say…’I’m going to form a family with you.’ This story really focuses on that, shows that, and tests that family to see what could possibly tear it apart and how strongly they’ll fight to keep it together.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Episode One is now available for purchase as a digital download for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
