The Darkside Detective Is Complete On Switch Today
If you treasure the heyday of wacky point-and-click PC games, The Darkside Detective is one to look at. Rendered in a similar blocky style, it follows Detective Francis McQueen as he investigates the supernatural, the paranormal, and the just plain weird (mostly, that third one). Its latest chapter, Baits Motel, was just released on Nintendo Switch.
The Darkside Detective was born in a demo created in just eight hours. Produced for the Galway Game Jam in November 2014, the demo was then posted online and became so popular, its creators were convinced to make a full game out of it. Over three years later, the finished game was released in chapters. Baits Motel is its last installment….for now.
Where cultists crawl, where demons dwell, where the occult… occults? *ahem* That’s where you’ll find Detective Francis McQueen, the lead investigator of the criminally underfunded Darkside Division. When evil darkens the doorsteps of Twin Lakes City – hell, even when it just loiters around shop fronts or hangs out in shady alleyways – he’s there, ready to investigate the cases that nobody else will.
Season one concludes with ‘Baits Motel’ which is a high-octane, action-packed, probably explosion-filled finale! Our heroes head to Trout Of This World, a museum for oddities fished from Lake Monster, to celebrate none other than Officer Dooley’s birthday. A relaxing (other than the aforementioned explosions, obviously) way to cap off an exciting year for our admittedly not-terribly-dynamic duo and the Spooky Doorway team.
With the arrival of Baits Motel, Season One of The Darkside Detective is complete. And the full game, with all its chapters, is now live on Switch for $12.99.
