The Defenders: New Video Teases Elektra’s Return
It’s already been confirmed that Elodie Yung will be reprising her role as Elektra in the upcoming Netflix miniseries event, The Defenders. This week, Marvel Studios and Netflix released a new video clip that hints at Elektra’s inevitable return, which you can check out below.
The upcoming series will continue off of the events of the previous four Marvel Netflix shows: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. In the new series, the nefarious organization, the Hand, are to be among the story’s villains. After what happened to Elektra in the second season of Daredevil, she likely largely figure into their plans.
The footage shows the Black Sky sarcophagus to which Elektra was laid to rest — temporarily — and it seems an unknown figure is pouring blood or fluids into it before the coffin ominously lifts up. It’s possible this is part of the ritual that revives a member of the Hand back from the dead. It’s already been confirmed that the Hand have some rather inhuman and supernatural powers. They can perform a ritual that can bring the dead back to life. However, with each “death,” the user becomes more and more aggressive and depraved. That doesn’t bode very well for Elektra’s future, especially with regards to her relationship with her ex-boyfriends, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.
The Defenders miniseries debuts on August 18 on Netflix. All eight episodes of the miniseries will be available to stream at launch.
