The PSN hackers may have your identity
If any of your billing information (credit cards and what not) were on your PSN account or PSN Plus account, that private information may of been obtained from the hackers who have currently taken down PSN. The quote from Sony and what you can do to protect your money is after the beak.
This is a quote from Sony,
“It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained.”
This is where the term, ‘Better safe than sorry’ comes in. Keep watch on the accounts you used to purchase merchandise from the PSN store and make sure there are no charges that have been made that you’re not aware of.
Sony has provided information on how to deal with identiy theft in the source link below. If you would like to read what the rest of what Sony said in the announcement, we have a story where you can read everything.
We felt like this needed it’s own story because most likely you’re not going to read something as long as bill from Congress and this is information you need to know if you have billing information on your PSN account. Keep watch on your charges until Sony resolves the issue, which we still don’t have an estimate when that will be, and all should (hopefully) be good.
