The Witcher 3: First Screens for Blood and Wine
CD Projekt RED revealed some new details and the very first screenshots for the next major DLC expansion for 2015’s Game of the Year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which will be Blood and Wine. The new screenshots present the new region for the game of Toussaint. While the last expansion, Hearts of Stone, had some new locations and areas to discover in the existing maps, Blood and Wine will offer a completely new country to explore with Toussaint.
Speaking on The Witcher 3’s success, CD Projekt RED Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated: “2015 is almost behind us. It’s a great year for open world games and a fantastic time for The Witcher. A year of intense work for the team and a time filled with many personal victories for everyone involved in a project that received more than 300 awards so far (wow!). We overcame so many obstacles to get to this point, and we’ve always done it with gamers rooting for us. It’s your year, too!”
He added on the game’s new land for the expansion: “Blood and Wine, the second expansion for The Witcher 3, is on the horizon. It’s a massive new land to explore, visually unlike anything you saw in Wild Hunt or Hearts of Stone, and it too is brimming with stories we want you to discover.”
The screenshots offer a look at the exterior areas of Toussaint, which look quite different from previous areas and cities in the regular game. Based on the released details and images, there is this sense that Toussaint is like a false utopia. There is a dark price that comes with the city’s prosperity.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will offer approximately 20 hours of new content, along with the all-new, in-game region of Toussaint, which is a land untainted by war. However, the atmosphere of Toussaint’s carefree indulgence and knightly ritual hides an ancient, dark and bloody secret. Blood and Wine is available to purchase now as part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Expansion Pass. Release details for the expansion have not yet been announced, but it will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
