Ubisoft announces Child of Light at Digital Days
Ubisoft has announced yet another game at Digital Days, Child of Light. Like Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Child of Light is developed with the UbiArt Framework where players take on the role of Aurora.
After falling ill, Aurora found her soul transported from her home to the kingdom of Lemuria where antagonist, the Black Queen has stolen the Sun, Moon and Stars. Guided by a ball of light named Igniculus (which can be controlled by a second player), players must find the missing light source and defeat the Black Queen to restore the kingdom.
Aurora and Igniculus have different playstyles where Aurora plays as the standard RPG, attacking and defending against enemies with her sword and magic while Igniculus uses his light to blind foes and heal comrades. There will also be places where only Igniculus will be able to travel to where Aurora cannot.
All dialogue in the game is spoken in rhymes as the game is heavily inspired by fairy tales and epic poems and styled after Japanese RPGs with turn-based combat. The game also provides an Active Time Battle System meter during combat to let the player see how soon each character (both friend and foe) will be able to move. However, Igniculus can throw the order into disarray with his blind, which slows enemies down giving Aurora an advantage.
Child of Light will be available in 2014 on the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U.
