Ultra Street Fighter II Confirmed for Switch
A classic game franchise is returning to the Nintendo console. Capcom and Nintendo recently revealed that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers will be released on the upcoming, new Nintendo console, the Nintendo Switch. The first Street Fighter game released on a Nintendo console was Street Fighter II on the Super Nintendo in 1991, so this is a sound relationship. To have a new iteration of Street Fighter II on the Switch makes all the sense in the world.
This new version of Street Fighter II will feature two new characters in Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. This is a version of Ryu who has succumbed to the Satsui no Hado and is obsessed with proving he’s the strongest. Violent Ken is Ken Masters after he was kidnapped and brainwashed by M. Bison, enhancing his abilities with Psycho Power.
The game will feature two different graphical styles, which is interesting. Players will be able to choose between classic pixel-art graphics or new HD graphics created by UDON Entertainment, who publish the Street Fighter comics. Gameplay will feature the Joy-Con controllers. Additionally, players can face off in Arcade Mode or team-up to fight against a CPU at the same time.
Utilizing the system’s unique Joy-Con controllers, players can challenge each other in Arcade Mode, or team-up to both fight against the CPU at the same time. You can check out an early trailer released for the game below. The game does not yet have an official release date. Capcom will release more details on the different game modes, pricing and release timing at a later date.
