Venom To Be “Horror” Film, May Be Rated “R”
With the success of Spider-Man Homecoming, Sony has wanted to make sure that their own films lives up to what that film has done. As such, they’ve preparing two films based on Spider-Man characters, but won’t (at present knowing) feature Spider-Man himself. The first is a Venom film, and the second is one based on Silver Sable and Black Cat.
For Venom, there are many indications that this will be a dark film, and director Ruben Fleischer has told Variety that it will take inspiration from movies of John Carpenter, who did horror films. Flesicher has an affinity for characters like Venom:
“I’ve always been drawn to the more antihero superheroes,” Fleischer says. “There’s a dark element to [Venom] and a wit that has always appealed to me. They become almost a third being, which is what Venom is. There’s a famous quote: ‘You’re Eddie Brock. I’m the symbiote. Together we are Venom.’”
Tom Hardy is set to be Eddie Brock/Venom in the film, we may hear more about it during San Diego Comic Con this weekend.

Awesome, I usually don't go to the movies to see Marvel movies, but venom seems like and interesting character and a horror element might make this movie worth seeing.

So they finally decided to make something that is not strictly spiderman 😀 that is nice. Venom is a cool villan and I didn't know that they are planning on giving him his own movie. I am definitely looking forward to this one.
