Wii U’s Special Splatoon Bundle
Nintendo has been known to call attention to significant releases by packing them in with their consoles or handhelds for an extra price. Splatoon is about to join the ranks of New Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario 3D World and ZombiU (in Europe) by getting its own special bundle. The package will be a Best Buy exclusive and has not been announced in other territories outside of the US.
It is important to note that, as has been the case with the last few bundles Nintendo has sold, a hard physical copy of Splatoon is not actually in the box. Instead, you’re given a download code. Nintendo Land is also digital but comes installed (figure that one out). If you are a collector and want the actual disc (and somehow don’t have a Wii U yet), just buy Splatoon and a separate Wii U console. It’s $10 extra but who cares.
But if you’re a newcomer to Wii U and prefer digital purchases, this will save you some money and you cannot really go wrong with it. The Wii U Splatoon bundle comes out alongside the game itself on May 29.
