Wild Dog Co-Creator Doesn’t Appreciate Costume Change For Arrow Season 06
In Season 05, the Arrow writers and showrunner decided to add some more heroes to Team Arrow. One of these heroes was a lesser known DC Comics character called Wild Dog. He’s a gun-toting hero who wears a hockey mask and jersey to show his street level association. While some appreciated the character, they felt that within the context of the Arrowverse, his outfit was a little…basic. So, when Arrow Season 06 aired fans got a surprise to see Wild Dog in a more “appropriate” hero outfit.
But, that doesn’t mean that everyone appreciated it, mainly, Wild Dog Co-Creator Terry Beatty, who said on his Facebook page:
“This change erases any trace of the original Collins/Beatty concept for the character. I would not be surprised if his name gets changed before too long, as well,” Beatty wrote. “Whatever was unique about his ‘street level’ costume has been replaced with the current standard issue dark armored uniform — a generic ‘third Imperial Guard from the left/Death-Blood-Stroke-Stryke/Image big gun’ look. Sigh….”
Now, it’s already been confirmed that Wild Dog will NOT get a name change, but his notes are valid. To be fair though, he does like how actor Rick Gonzalez portrays the character:
“I will tip my hat to Rick Gonzalez, who I feel has done a fine job in the role and has a strong screen presence. I wish him luck in going forward with this and whatever else he does down the line,” he concluded.
