WWE ’12 Online Status Update
The ongoing issues plaguing the online experience of WWE ’12 seem to be closer than ever to reaching an end.
Ever since WWE ’12 was released November 22nd, 2012, it just hasn’t been a complete game. Don’t get anything wrong here, WWE ’12 did some great things and was probably the biggest gameplay overhaul in 5 or 6 years for the series but, the entire package just hasn’t been there. The main thing that hasn’t been there is the online component of the game. What happened was that THQ wanted to use their own servers instead of the Gamespy servers they had been using for the life of the online portion of their series of WWE games. The result of this was utter chaos, the online component was so broken at launch that we sit here nearly 5 months later and Community Creations(which allows you to upload and download other user creations) has been broken the entire time. That’s unacceptable for such an enjoyable part of a game to be broken for such a long period of time.
Finally though, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
THQTank posted this update to the WWE Games forums earlier today:
“We did infact update WWE ’12 online at the end of last week as promised, however, we are continuing to do various “tuning” updates throughout the week leading into the bigger update we are targeting for the end of this month. The updates we are doing right now are minor and tuning and you may not see dramatic impact immedietly. That said, many of you are experiencing success, and we hear loud and clear those of you that still have issues. We’re hopeful our larger online update at the end of this month will help resolve for most.
If you get a server unavailable error, this can sometimes be due to simply to high-traffic, intermittent online connection issues, or a temporary issue with our database. We are continuing to look into some potential regional specific issues but overall, most of you should find better than moderate success when accessing, searching, and downloading.
If you experience issues, when reporting, PLEASE MENTION WHAT REGION YOU LIVE IN. This will help us continue isolating your issue.”
So, there you have it. The issues will FINALLY be resolved at the end of the month. Hopefully.
