Xbox One Twitch app gets host of new features
The Xbox One app for Twitch has received a new update that brings a collection of new features to those who want to stream their games. One of the main new features is the ability of the Twitch app to use the newly released ability to associate real-time gameplay stats with broadcasts. This lets people filter available streams by a far greater array of options, including player stats, game modes, maps, player skill levels, in-game activity and their in-game progress. Games that support more stats will also be able offer more search filters.
Xbox.com says this means that viewers can now search directly for things like the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare player with the highest kill/death ratio or look up the broadcaster who has the highest ranker in a particular game mode. It will also help broadcasters to build up audiences more easily according to the site. “This new Twitch experience also helps up-and-coming broadcasters find audiences,” says the site. “ After all, if you’re one of the best players of a game, yet you’re brand new to Twitch, you could quickly attract attention as viewers filter by skill.”
Other updates to Twitch include the ability for broadcasters to offer videos on demand to viewers, so that even when offline streamers can still give their fans access to specially picked highlights or past broadcasts. The Xbox One Home screen can now also be customized with specific game broadcasts or with channels that you follow regularly.
