Wreck-It Ralph 2 Hits Theaters in March 2018
Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially announced that the upcoming sequel to Wreck-It Ralph will hit theaters on March 9, 2018. The original team from the first film is reunited for the sequel, including Zootopia co-director Rich moore and producer Clark Spencer. Phil Johnston joins the production as director and writer. Of course, John C. Reilly returns as the voice of Ralph, and Sarah Silverman is back as the game-winning glitch, Vanellope von Schweetz.
A new promotional image for the upcoming film was also released (pictured above). The filmmakers and Reilly made the announcement today on Facebook Live which you can watch in full at this link. The sequel is still currently untitled, but Disney confirmed that in this film, Ralph will be wrecking the internet in the follow-up.
Moore stated in the announcement: “From the moment we started working on the first ‘Wreck-It Ralph,’ we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters. This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web—as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them—and the actors who voice them—once again.”
Johnston added, “The world of the internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope. The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”
Reilly also stated: “Ralph is a character very near and dear to my heart. I’m really looking forward to playing the big lug again. Making the first ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had and I’m really looking forward to bringing him back to life. So many kids I’ve met all over the world are excited to see him again, too. They tell me all the time!”
Wreck-It Ralph 2 takes the originally announced release date for Disney’s Gigantic. Gigantic will now be released in theaters on November 21, 2018.
