Amityville: The Awakening To Be Released For Free
Earlier in the year we reported on Amityville: The Awakening, the latest in a long, long, LONG-running series of films about a specific haunted house — a film that was supposedly so bad that its parent company refused to release it in the US. Originally scheduled for the big screen on April 15, 2016. It was moved to January 6, 2017, then pushed down to June 30, 2017, then taken off the schedule altogether.
Just in case you’re curious what kind of movie would elicit this sort of response, The Weinstein Company has announced Amityville: The Awakening will be streamed for free on Google Play from October 12 to November 8. It will also, apparently, get some kind of theatrical release on October 28, but if it’s already free, why pay for it?
There isn’t much to say about the plot. If you guessed that a family moves into the Amityville house and spooky stuff starts to happen, you would be correct. Weinstein has released this clip to give you the basic idea:

Amityville: The Awakening stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Mckenna Grace, and is rated PG-13 for mild boos. The updated trailer has been posted below. If you’ve got two hours to burn this Halloween, knock yourself out. Free is free.
