Female Firefly Heading to Gotham Season 2
Season 2 of Gotham is being subtitled “The Rise of the Villains,” a very foreboding sentence when you realize just how many villains have already been introduced in the “prequel” to the arrival of Batman. Now, a new player is coming to town, but it’s one that you may be quite familiar with based on your knowledge of Batman lore. TV Line is reporting that Michelle Veintimilla has been cast to play Firefly in a couple of episodes this season. Yes, Firefly, a character who usually goes by the name Garfield Lynns, but not this time. In fact, her backstory is very different from Lynns as well. Here’s the official synopsis for her character:
“Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”
This version of Firefly will appear in the fifth and sixth episodes of the season. Only time (and writing) will tell if she survives those two and will be back for more.
Gotham Season 2 premieres on September 21st on Fox.
