Freddie Wong wows us with ‘Old School vs. New School’
American moviemaker, musician, VFX technician and competitive gamer Freddie Wong, famous for making videogames-inspired short films such as The Rocket Jump, Skyrim Badass, and the EA-requested Battlefield 3 TV commercial, has us in awe of his creative genius once again this afternoon.
Uploaded to his YouTube channel yesterday, ‘Old School vs. New School’ sees some of this console generation’s heroes, namely Uncharted’s Nathan Drake, Assassins Creed’s Altaïr Ibn-La Ahad and Halo’s Master Chief, fend off waves of Atari-era pixelated threats that have invaded our world through a mysterious portal. It’s a truly impressive tribute to gaming, both antiquated and contemporary. It reminds us a little of Patrick Jean’s brilliant ‘Pixels Attack New York’ too, which we also recommend you check out.
