I AM: The First Animated Card Game
There’s as new card game about to go on sale that advertises itself as “animated.” How is that possible? Wouldn’t that be a terrible strain on the animators’ wrists?
Well, it works this way: the cards contain images on them, and if you collect all 12 in a set, you can flip ’em to create animations. Your goal is to track down a complete set before the other players do.
Each player is dealt 12 cards, which can be changed by drawing or rejecting other cards from the pack. A player wins a single hand by collecting a minimum of 6 matching planet cards, 6 matching Zodiac cards or a run of 6 numbered planet cards. They do not have to declare their hand at this stage however, as they might prefer waiting to collect a full ‘I AM’ hand, which will effectively win the entire game outright! A full ‘I AM’ hand is a run of all 12 matching planet cards, at which point the player declares ‘I AM’ and flips their cards to make them animate!
The I AM card game is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter. It just launched, so as we write this the accumulated amount of cash isn’t much. But it will grow! To get your own copy, contribute to it here.
