MGS5: The Phantom Pain – Are Liquid And Solid Snake In The Game?
While it has been confirmed that the story of MGS5 will be a prequel that revolves around Big Boss, a few things stuck out during the latest trailer released at this year’s E3 that points to Liquid and Solid Snake being in the game.
Now before I go on with these claims, it’s important to note that Kojima has constantly told us to be on the look out for hidden clues laid out in every MGS5 trailer thus far. With that being said lets take a very quick look at MGS history.
The first trailer for the Phantom Pain showed that Big Boss had entered a deep coma. Now if you remember this from past MGS titles then you’ll know that at this time (about 1972) Zero initiated the “Les Enfants Terribles” project, which was aimed to clone Big Boss to preserve the perfect soldier. Fast forward to 1984 (12 years later) and we got Big Boss back in action and seeking revenge (against Zero??) for something yet to be uncovered.
So with that in mind, both Liquid and Solid Snake were born in 1972 and by 1984 both would be around the age of 12. Little is known about the characters childhood, however if they were indeed meant to be the perfect soldier it would only make sense if they were enlisted in the military just like Raiden. Anyway here’s the recent and extended trailer for MGS5: The Phantom Pain. Pay close attention to it because you might miss a few hints.

Catch them? Well look here:
The first is the line right after “Eli” name. “A Youth who Curses his Fate”. Seems like a rather odd tag-line to use, but to keep it in context he’s a young kid who appears to be around the age 10-12 years old. His hair is blond and what exactly about his fate is cursed? Of course we don’t expect Konami to just outright say it, but you gotta admit both Liquid and Solid Snake had an unfortunate life that wasn’t normal and we can say that they were controlled the whole time. Besides, he does bear a resemblance to Liquid Snake.
The scares on the child don’t appear on the adult Liquid Snake, but character’s weren’t as detailed back then as seen with Ocelot who looks very different. Another thing is, Liquid is the master of disguises and likes to use other names. In MGS1 he uses Miller, which is a war buddy of Big Boss’s. MGS5 would explain how he knows Miller to.
Anyway moving on with more Big Boss. Truth is, Big Boss never loved Liquid or Solid Snake. In fact, he despised them as his children’s and never wanted to be apart of their lives. However, he did have compassion and respected Solid Snake as a man and soldier. So this brings us to the next part. The boy with the cassette player. The trailer stretches for a whole 9 minutes and 15 seconds. Why is that important you ask? Well take a look at this.
With a whole minute left they decided now would be the perfect time to reveal the song name? As Big Boss is choking a poor kid? It could be that this was coming to the closing of the song, but the title, the number of years passed by, the hair color, and the fact that this kid looks the same age as Eli all seems to point that this is indeed Solid Snake. Big Boss might not know it himself though, and I say this because in the previous trailer this kid seems like he’s not even there. His brain has been scrambled. So in other words, Big Boss may just feel bad for the kid and is trying to knock some sense back into him. It’s alos important to know that depending on the views and whether or not this is correct, but it is said that Liquid had the superior genes of Big Boss, despite him thinking otherwise. This would explain why Solid is in this state as he’s the “inferior” clone, and despite that disposal of him wasn’t apart of the plan.
So what do you guys think? Is this a possible outcome?
Thanks to our other staff member, Taylor for pointing these out.

i do agree with the whole eli resembling liquid snake but the boy in the cage was already confirmed to be chico from mgs peace walker so albeit liquid might possibly be in the game if solid snake is in the game it probably wont be until the end where metal gear 1 began

I thought Big Boss actually treated Solid like his son, but left Liquid to the way side.

“I thought Big Boss actually treated Solid like his son, but left Liquid to the way side.”
Well, here’s what Eva had to say about that:
“I’m sorry. Your father never wanted you”.
And Big Boss himself:
“I never thought of you as a son. But I always respected you as a soldier and as a man”.
For whatever reason, he favored Solid. Which is kind of a dick thing to do. He didn’t want himself to be cloned, so he should have ignored and/or hated all clones equally. In that sense I understand why Liquid hates both BB and Solid so violently.

Don’t worry. “Punished Snake” is actually Gray Fox covering for the comatose Big Boss.

The boy with the cassette player is Chico, it was confirmed in the original Ground Zero trailer nearly a year ago for crying out loud.
