Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Will Not Be At E3
E3 is less than a month away, and the eyes of the gaming world are all waiting with anticipation on what the gaming companies both big and small will reveal. For Nintendo, you could argue they have the most to gain, and the most to lose if their E3 doesn’t go well, both critically and in the eyes of fans. They’re last in console sales, and they lost one of their big titles that was supposed to come out this year in Zelda Wii U. So you wouldn’t be filled with joy when you hear that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will not be at E3 this year. Nintendo released the following statement as to why.
“Nintendo’s focus for E3 this year will be showcasing the many games we have coming for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Mr. Miyamoto and other members of our development team will be in Los Angeles to explain these games and the unique experiences that each offers. Mr. Iwata’s focus in this period will be on other areas of our business that require his presence in Japan.”
While predictable, it also reveals something interesting, while Miyamoto, and most likely Reggie Fils-Aime will be there to talk about the games, it’s entirely possible that Mr. Iwata will be in Japan working with the DeNA and NX teams to ensure there is development on those upcoming projects. Mainly because Nintendo already announced that those two projects will not be talked about at E3 this year, thus giving him the opportunity to work on them without having to answer questions about them.
It’s important to note that the Nintendo Press Conference this year will again be digital, so he could appear in it without having to be in LA. Fingers crossed for a BIG Nintendo turnout.
