Spawn at one time was a very popular character outside of the comics. It had a cult-classic film, and then had an animated series on HBO (starring Keith David) which actually won an Emmy and lasted a couple years. Now that Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn) is helming the return of the character on the big screen, could he return to the TV screen?

Well, at New York Comic Con, McFarlane noted it’s very possible, as long as the movie gets made:

“I’m going to get the [Spawn] movie out and then we still have the rights for TV and animation and we’ll just figure it out.”

So it seems like he’s more than up for the idea, but no doubt the response to the film will influence it on a potential animated series.
