NYCC: Richard Rider To Be Nova Once Again
Nova is easily one of the most popular of Marvel’s “space heroes”, and for a long time, only one person had the title of Nova, his name was Richard Rider. However, when he appeared to have died, a younger Nova named Sam Alexander took over, and rocketed to such popularity that he became an essential part of certain Marvel events, was made an Avenger, and is a founding member of the Champions title.
However, as teased via the final of the Nova series, Richard Rider is coming back to helm a new Nova series. This was confirmed during a Spider-Man panel at NYCC. ComicBook.com was there, and noted what the writers said about the comic:
“Ramon Perez talked about Richard Rider’s return from the dead as Nova. He talked about the new story arc, which will see older Nova trying to school younger Nova (Sam Alexander) on how to be a hero. Thompson talked about bringing together the creative team for the book, whom they wanted in order to make “Rich Rider’s” return feel worthwhile … Perez later teased death and resurection being a major theme they explore in the new Nova book.”
It’s unclear how Rider’s return will affect other characters in the Marvel universe, but it’s likely that it’ll happen at some point.
