Rise of the Tomb Raider Will Not Have Multiplayer
For the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider sequel, it seems one of the features Crystal Dynamics will be dropping from the last game will be the multiplayer mode. In short, the latest Lara Croft adventure will not have any type of multiplayer gameplay. The news comes from Official Xbox Magazine (via The Games Cabin). It seems multiplayer from the first game was seen as a letdown as well as a tacked on feature, so it didn’t play as well as the rest of the game.
As a result, Crystal Dynamics is maintaining its focus on the single-player campaign for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Multiplayer can add a lot of overall replay value to the game, but some versions of multiplayer are not as well thought out as others and they lack a certain polish. Case in point, multiplayer in Batman: Arkham Origins was not all that great. However, it added a lot to games such as the last two installments of the Uncharted franchise, and it will surely be a big part of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is set for a November 10 launch for Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game will get a PlayStation 4 release a year later for the holiday 2016 season. It will also receive a Windows PC release in 2016 as well. A collector’s edition of the Xbox One version will also be released on November 10.
