SDCC 2017: New Thanos Comic Coming
Thanos has been on the minds of many people at Marvel for some time. As one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe, you could argue that any chance you get to use him, you take it. But at this point in time it’s all the more crucial. Thanos is going to be the villain in Infinity War, and so naturally Marvel is making him more and more relevant in the comics. Thanos has a miniseries right now that depicts him fighting both his son Thane, and his love, Death.
And now, via San Diego Comic Con, Thanos is going to be getting an ongoing series via writer Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw. Both of him are very excited to be doing this book.
“I keep coming up with ideas that are just so darkly brutal,” Cates teased. “I just understand him as a character and as a god. I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing…I don’t want to get too much into what I’m doing, but the basic idea is that…I believe every Marvel hero in the galaxy, if you were to catch them on a dark day and asked them how the world was going to end, they’d say, ‘Thanos, of course.’ He’s just always there.”
“I’m just excited. I get to draw everything. It’s just so big and out there,” Shaw added. “Not to belabor the point, but Donny told me the pitch too, and I was like, ‘Really?’ It’s out there, it’s crazy, it’s huge.”
