There Was a Helicarrier in Deadpool
At the end of the Deadpool film, there were two major things going on. First, Deadpool teamed up with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead to take on Ajax and Angel Dust, along with their cronies. But for eagle-eyed fans, many noticed that the final climatic battle took place on what looked very much like a SHIELD Helicarrier. Now, it didn’t fly, and it didn’t have SHIELD logos, but the overall shape (even with its deconstruction) made many fans think that this was a massive Easter Egg. Well, in an interview with i09, the concept artist behind Deadpool confirmed that it was indeed a Helicarrier.
“[I] was asked to redesign the helicarrier so it looked as different as possible from the one in The Avengers,” concept artist Emmanuel Shiu said. “And it had to look like it had been taken apart in some places.”
This was but one of the numerous Easter eggs of the film, many of which are still being discovered now. It’s elements like this that has made Deadpool a huge success both critically and financially.
Deadpool is out now in theaters.
