Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Plagued With Launch Problems
The latest instalment in the Tony Hawk’s skateboarding series released worldwide today and although reviews are not yet online, various outlets are reporting a variety of problems that make the game largely unplayable. These range from graphical bugs to glitches that stop walls from working properly, stopping the player from being able to carry on with tasks.
Eurogamer’s Wesley Yin-Poole described the problems, saying: “We see Tony Hawk’s dead-eyed character model spinning out of control at the most innocuous of collisions, and constant glitching into walls, the ground and half-pipes as the cel-shaded graphics collapse.”
Meanwhile, Destructoid has also reported a number of problems that they have encountered while they have been playing through the game to review it. “I’m currently playing Tony Hawk 5 for review now, and I’ve ran into many of the same problems as our friends from Eurogamer,” said Chris Carter. “Additionally, I’ve seen more issues not present in that video, like online connection problems for public games.”
Even without these issues, it seems like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater may not be value for money as a full retail release, with Carter also saying: “Then there’s the reworked art style, which is better than the initial announcement, but still pretty poor. Based on what I’ve played so far, I can easily see it being a nice little $10 title after some fixes, but remember — this is a full retail game we’re talking about here.”
